Trying Yoga for Back Pain…Great?

The IT guy at my job insists that he can’t and won’t bend down to lift heavy items because like most people, he apparently is experiencing back pain.

The reasons for getting problem are several. Still, yoga for back pain may be beneficial as it comprises of physical movements.

Consequently, it is one therapeutic exercise to use for problems with one’s back.

It is noteworthy that one’s back is one of the most fundamental parts of your body and is a sensitive part with a mass of nerves, bones, tendons, and muscles. It supports the trunks, guards the spinal cord and the spinal nerves.

So, which poses would I recommend for the purpose?

Well, first of, you can try the Bow Pose.

In addition to this, the simplest variation of the Wheel Pose, forward bend pose and the Spinal Twist can all come in handy.

Of course, seeking assistance with a well qualified Yoga instructor will aid in the whole process of learning the poses, or you can always look online for helpful instructions.

But suffice it to say that it does help out a whole lot.

    Yoga and the Importance of Detoxification:

    One thing that is so beneficial about yoga is just how useful it is to help with detoxification.

    It must be noted that today's world is full of ways to get toxins into your body.

    Therefore, it is only logical that one seeks to find ways to eliminate those toxins at the same rate or faster than they are introduced.

    Hence, the use of Yoga.

    The health benefits of yoga with a regular practice of yoga poses, breathing exercises, and meditation are:

    1. It helps to combat against certain illnesses, and there are some reliable researches proving that yoga aids in controlling certain illnesses such as headaches, arthritis, stress, anxiety, blood pressure, asthma, multiple sclerosis, chronic fatigue, epilepsy, diabetes and many more.

    2. It helps in increasing your strength, stamina, muscle tone, and flexibility. It is a better solution for people who believe they are too fat and for those who are conscious about their figure that keeps their body in shape.

    3. Yoga exercises can improve the blood circulation in the body. Even the organs and veins want to have a regular yoga exercises in order to function properly. By yoga practices, the immune systems can be stimulated to help prevent us from diseases. A good immune system will help us to avoid getting sickness and diseases.

    Most of the people practice yoga to be enlightened. People treat it as a way to help them by bringing about their spirit and remain them relieved. It definitely works but differently for different people in their emotional, psychological, mental, physical, and spiritual factors.

    So Give it a shot and see what it can do for you starting today.

    The Advantages of Yoga...again...

    Okay, I had said a few months back that a friend had recently picked up the fitness craze Yoga in his local gym and still till this day insists that he never knew why he thought Yoga to be some girly crap...

    Even his Yoga for beginners class every thursday and Saturday is supposedly kicking his butt!

    Mind you he lifts weights and does cardio and all that, still...home boy is getting whooped into a whole new approach to being in shape.

    Well, like him another guest author James Kronefield discusses the many benefits of Yoga, so take the stage James....

    In a time when fitness and anti-aging were swear words I joined a Hatha group - Hatha means exercise or pose. My teacher was young and vibrant in my eyes though today I realize she was in her early fifties.

    It's safe to say Yoga is just part of the answer the rest is in the story I was the girl who wasn't very pretty as they say.

    Today while I myself am in my early fifties I often shock people who think I must be in my late thirties. So what is my secret to anti-aging, and finding health? Let's look at how a plain Jane became a beautiful woman.

    Many people think you have to be very flexible to gain anything from doing Asana poses though that's not true. It's the form and breathing that vitalize the body, mind and soul.

    Mastering each posture is key to achieving strength and having control. Once you accomplish this you can add the breathing or Prana as it is called. Together you have internal circulation and externally your body is also staying young. Just think about it. The skin itself stays elastic even if you're like me not a flexible person even after years of practice.

    The breath not only adds oxygen to the blood but increases the flow so that each organ including our skin which is the largest organ of our bodies is receiving plenty of nourishment. The aging process is slowed down and our health potential is higher when we are fit.

    So Like her, since I started...ain't no turning my back on Yoga...

    the irony is, almost everyday....albeit unknowingly, most of us do perform it, so why not add to or make your very own regimen for physical fitness...it sure won't hurt and could help a whole lot!

    Have you done the Relaxation Pose Today?

    If you haven’t, then think about doing it sometime soon.

    If you want to know why, well, we all know that one of the necessary things needed to keep an automobile in good condition is cooling the engine when it gets hot.

    Well the same principle applies to the human body. When the body and mind are constantly overworked, their efficiency in performing their duties diminishes. Modern social life, food, work and even play make it difficult for the modern man to relax.

    Rest and sleep are essential to recharge our nervous energy.

    Our Physical, emotional and mental balance depends on the quantity and quality of these vital necessities. They are the only things that recharge these batteries and allow for the proper elimination of metabolic wastes. Energy is often expended even unconsciously just like a faucet that constantly drips.

    Emotional burdens such as worries, sorrow, anxieties, anger and greed are highly devitalizing. A few minutes of anger expends more energy than a day of physical work! After anger, worries and sorrows disappear there is still yet another demon waiting to swallow the energy that is: mental fatigue or tension.

    Only the corpse pose offered to us in Yoga can aid modern man to recapture the art of relaxation. In order to achieve perfect relaxation, three methods are used by the yogis. The three methods are known as physical, mental and spiritual.

    So, my friend, take some time out to learn it and apply it to your day-to-day life.

    Yes, yoga is a great way to exercise!

    Take it from a current practitioner…I know.

    If you don’t want to take my word for it, then how about Madonna’s, Sting’s, Russell Simmons, Angela Bassett, Quincy Jones or my hard-as-nail-friend who recently picked it up and in his inimitable way said in a mind changing experience… “I can’t believe I thought Yoga was some Bull….”

    Think about it, it is safe for just about anyone, regardless of their physical condition or age.

    Furthermore, most people recognize that yoga exercise is a great way to increase your flexibility, but it is a great method to reduce stress in your life.

    And if you didn’t know (or need to be reminded of this) simple yoga breathing exercises can help you body fight off illness by increasing the oxygen supply to your bloodstream.


    If you need to lose weight, yoga will help with this as well. Yoga will help you safely burn additional calories without creating undue stress on your joints. It is one of the safest exercises that a person can do.

    Hey, even basket ball great Kareem Abdul-Jabar speaks highly or Yoga, and so does the former coach of 4-time NBA champions, Phil Jackson…

    So what are you waiting on?

    Strike a pose!!!

    Build Muscle and Restore Balance With This Pose

    It's always nice to know that more than one thing can be done at a time while engaging in another thing.

    That could be said for the Yoga pose known as the peacock pose.

    Now being a practitioner myself, I have tried this pose many a times and I will be quick to note that besides being a tremendous pose to aid with building upper body strength, this pose specially is beneficial for all stomach disorders.

    Now, how do you execute this pose?

    Well for the simplest and first variation of the peacock pose,

    Kneel on a blanket. Join the two arms together and rest the hands on the floor, palms down with fingers pointing toward the toes. You may curve the fingers slightly. This facilitates balancing. Keep the hands firm. Now you have steady and firm forearms for supporting the whole body. Bring down the abdomen slowly against the conjoined elbows. Support your body on your elbows. Then stretch your legs. Inhale and raise the legs together from the floor. Raise the legs straight on a level with the head, parallel to the floor. Keep the posture steady for five seconds and then rest the toes on the floor and exhale. Rest for a few minutes.


    So, there you have it...give it a shot and let me know how it goes.
