Exercising The Liver: An Excellent Guide To Health & Fitness

Exercising The Liver: An Excellent Guide To Health & Fitness

By Ismael Tabije

It is a tough job for the liver to keep the cleaning function of the body always in smooth operation especially with the present-day unhealthy eating and drinking habits of people. And, like any other machines, it encounters malfunctioning that needs immediate troubleshooting. But unlike other machines that need only oiling to run again, the liver has to be looked upon very carefully or the entire system will suffer if it does not function very well.

In youth, you might not notice the effects of malfunctioning liver. But when you reach middle and advanced age, you will discover that a lot of sicknesses are being caused by a malfunctioning liver. The symptoms of a damaged liver are: dull aching pain in the right side of the stomach area - often under the shoulder blade, terrible pain at the nape, rough tongue, unpleasant taste in the mouth in the morning and the appearance of yellowish color in the whites of the eyes. Other than those, a person with a troubled liver would also frequently feel loss of appetite, dizziness and drowsiness after meals.

With these indications of ailments, the person is often irritated and weak which could affect his entire outlook in life. And this could lead to fast deterioration of the body. Growing old would then become a burden.

But you can do something to prevent that misfortune from happening to you. Aging doesn’t have to bring about all sorts of diseases. It is not a reason that because you are getting old, you are expected to feel all kinds of sickness. There are times when you regret why you never heeded the advice to you before and why you never paid enough attention to your health when you were younger. Instead of dwelling on those regrets, why don’t you try doing something to alleviate that condition? No matter at what age you will decide to do so, it is never too late. Sanford Bennett, a phenomenal celebrity for bodily rejuvenation thru natural methods, has proven so.

In his campaign for total health rejuvenation, Sanford Bennett devised a program of exercise for the liver to keep it in a fine condition. The liver, being a gland, would respond well when exercised. And an exercise involving tension of the abdominal muscles will benefit the liver along with some massaging techniques. But of course, before doing the exercise, one must be familiar with the position and the structure of his own liver.

• First Exercise

There are three exercises Sanford Bennett described for the liver. Feel the location of your liver with the fingers of both hands as you lie on your back. Press the fingers upward past the ribs. The liver can be easily moved and tensed because the abdominal muscles are in relaxed state. Create pressing movements under and upwards. Do this twenty times and increasing daily until you reach 100 or until your condition permits.

This tensing exercise is comparable to the effect you get when you ride a horse. This is an exercise frequently prescribed by physicians when the liver is not in good condition.

• Second Exercise

Lie on your right side and place your left hand over the area of your liver. Position yourself with the head slightly inclined forward and with the knees bent. This will relax the abdominal muscles and place the liver forward. With your knuckle of the thumb or the pad of a finger, press well under the ribs and massage the liver.

• Third Exercise (Percussion)

Light thumping of the liver will also help in the healthy activity of the liver. Lie on your left side which inclines the liver forward and the muscles relaxed. With your right fist, strike lightly but rapidly on the area. Begin with twenty strikes and increase daily up to how many your condition permits.

When the liver is properly taken cared of, the whole body system is guaranteed to be in a good condition. And when you pay equal attention to all the parts of your body, there is no need to worry about your health failing. Take care of your body.

Best Abdominal Exercises To Get The Sexy Six Pack You Deserve.

Best Abdominal Exercises To Get The Sexy Six Pack You Deserve.

    By Rajesh Shetty

The key to getting those sexy abdominals lies mainly on what abdominal exercises you choose to perform.

Here are the best yoga Exercises for Removing Abdominal Fat Permanently!

    1) Dhanurasana-Bow Posture

    Technique:

    1. Begin lying down on the stomach, reach back and grasp the ankles. Inhale. 2. Lifting legs, head and chest, arch the back into a bow. Retain breath, then exhale and lie flat. 3. Repeat three or four times.

    More advanced:

While in the Bow position, rock back and forth, then from side to side. Slowly release and exhale.

    Benefits:

    1. Massages abdominal muscles and organs. 2. Good for gastrointestinal disorders, constipation, upset stomach, sluggish liver. 3. Reduces abdominal fat.

    Warning:

Not for persons suffering from peptic ulcer, hernia, or cases of thyroid or endocrine gland disorders.

    2) Naukasana-Boat Posture:

    Position:

Lie on the back as in Shavasana position, stretch the legs with your feet together and raise them about 10" to 12" above the ground.

Stretch the arms around the head on the ground and raise the arms along with the chest upwards after taking a deep breath, while balancing on the buttocks at the same time.

Now, let both the arms lie horizontally to the ground with fingers pointing towards the knees. The body in this position looks like a floating boat.

Breathe normally in this position and return to Shavasana position slowly after 10 to 30 seconds. Perform Naukasana at least 8 to 10 times per session.

    Benefits:

It helps strengthen the muscles of the abdomen, neck and shoulder. It also relieves constipation.

    Caution:

Severe backache and hip joint disorders are contra-indication for this asana.

    3) Kapalbhati:

This is one of the best abdominal exercises for removing abdominal fat.

    How to do it.:

Sit comfortably in a cross-legged position.Breathe normally for about a minute. Once composed, you can begin.

First, Exercise the diaphragm by exhaling suddenly and quickly through both nostrils, producing a "puffing" sound. Don't focus on inhalation. It will be automatic and passive.

The air is exhaled completely from the lungs with a sudden, vigorous stroke while simultaneously drawing inwards the abdominal muscles.

The breath should be expelled fully. Inhaling is automatic - the abdominal muscles will relax automatically.

This abdominal exercise should be done in three rounds, each consisting of 10 strokes (for the beginner). Each round should take about a minute.

A little rest can be taken in between the rounds as convenient. Throughout the exercise, the chest should be kept still without expansion or contraction. Only the diaphragm is used for breathing and not the upper chest.

Over a month, the number of strokes per minute can be gradually increased from 10 to about 30.

    Benefits:

Clears toxins from your body and lungs.Tones the abdominal muscles and burns fat.

    The Benefits Of Practicing Yoga

    By NamSing Then

Whatever that can mean today, Yoga in plain language means opportunity or luck. For example, if you inherit a legacy totally in an unanticipated way, it is your yoga that brought it your way. It is quite a common word in its usage, meaning luck, in India. Sample this: ‘He had a bad yoga; he lost his business in the storm’.

Then, How Come It Came To Be Known As A Different Exercise Cult?

It is quite simple. The four manifestations of yoga, Bhakti Yoga, Karma Yoga, Raja Yoga, and Jnana Yoga, fundamentally preach different ways of attaining ‘salvation or moksha’ or the eternal freedom; freedom from deaths and lives; freedom from good and evil. Although there are deviations to all four main forms of yoga, there is a common thread binding them in an innocuous way. That it is the means of spiritual enlightenment. Taking a cue from here, another relatively later manifestation called as ‘Hatha Yoga’, preaches the same thing as the other four, considered by ordinary people as difficult to practice, but emphasizes more on physical health.

Hinduism has a lot of literatures and treatises written on all four forms plus the Hatha Yoga. Patanjali, one prominent of them, is credited as being the proponent of yogasanas as yoga is known popularly today. The word yogasana is a conjugate word of yoga and asana. Yogasana combines the benefits of physical postures, in a scientific sequence, performed under extreme concentration on controlling the mind and breath, for physical benefits.

    Yoga and Exercises

Yoga is a popular short word for yogasana after it reached west. Yoga is practiced after proper coaching like any other exercising method. Each step in any posture is defined and regulated to precision. When yoga is practiced, practitioners chant mantras which help practitioners hold the postures’ steps till the mantra ends. The steps can also be followed by chanting simple ‘OM’.

OM is believed to be the first sound the human being heard from the Creator. To chant OM, one needs to relax the mind beforehand and slowly chant for a length of time, which is entirely decided by the chanter to his or her entire comfort, which does not strain the lungs. The longest effortless single breath chant is the naturally needed length of OM. Change your yogasana step at the end of each OM and proceed further till end.

What we discussed is the simplest class of yoga. Breath control is equally important for yoga to benefit you in any way. Pranayama, which regulates the oxygen supplies to our blood, must be associated with yoga practice.

Try Proper Nutrition And Regular Exercise For Healthy Weight Loss

    By Peter Kudlacz

Nowadays we are inundated with diet programs and diet pills that claim to help you lose weight quickly. It can be really confusing for you or any person when it comes to choosing which one is best for you and the most important question that you should be asking yourself is: Do these diet programs and pills really work?

Recently due to the death of Dr Atkins, the Atkins Diet came under scrutiny. Now Dr Phil's Diet is in the news. He's being sued because his diet is not helping people to lose weight like it's supposed to. I will not discuss the details of this litigation. The purpose of this article is that I feel that you should be wary of a fad diets even those endorsed by celebrities! Since these diets are highly visible, the temptation always exists to try them because it worked for a certain celebrity.

Unfortunately there is no easy 'miracle cure' for weight loss. You know that people spend a lot of money on these diets and there is no scientific proof that they will work and keep weight off for you in the long-term. People often look for quick and easy ways to lose weight. Like any thing in life, weight loss takes a little effort and commitment on your part. The only proven way to lose weight safely and effectively is through proper nutrition combined with regular exercise. Your body must be able to burn off more calories than it consumes.

The only way to keep from gaining weight permanently is to keep eating healthy foods and exercising regularly. Many people after they lose weight, they stop eating properly and stop exercising on a regular basis and end up gaining weight again. There are a lot of reasons this can happen. They may create excuses for themselves that they do not have time to exercise. My answer to this is that there is always time for exercise. You must set aside some time, at least 2 to 3 times a week, for exercise. When you do this, exercise becomes part of your life and not a chore that you must do. In the long run you will feel healthier without being over weight and exercise will be enjoyable. You will feel confident and positive that you accomplished a goal that you set out to do in a natural way without being a slave to all those commercial diets that eventually fade into the oblivion.

There are a lot of good books on the market that discuss proper nutrition and exercise as the means to your weight loss goals, but which one should you choose? Hiring a personal trainer is expensive and that person may not possess the required knowledge about proper nutrition to help you lose weight. One all-inclusive and comprehensive fitness and health program that I do recommend is the Global Online Fitness and Health Program. Here you'll receive a customized fitness and nutritional program suited to you and created by fitness and nutritional experts.
