Introduction to Yoga for Fitness

The Sun Salutations When using Yoga for Fitness:

These exercises are a combination of Yoga Poses, Breathing Exercises, Sun Bathing and Prayer. They have been practiced for centuries by Yoga Practitioners in India, Martial Artists and African Wrestlers and as a system to rejuvenate the body and soul are beyond compare. It’s been said in the Drugless Healing circles that one round of the Sun Salutations is much better than a week of exercises at the gym!

They are very simple to learn and just about anyone, regardless of their fitness or flexibility levels can learn these simple exercises. In actuality, if you are familiar with “burpies” (the calisthenics exercise), they do derive their origin from the Sun Salutations.

Here are some of their benefits:
-They alleviate disorders of the skin and waist.
-Flexibility increases and breathing is corrected, moreover, they mildly exercise the legs and arms, thus increasing the circulation.
-They are the best way to burn calories and reduce weight and are often recommended for obesity and depression.

    Diet and Fitness: What's the Link?

    A huge one.

    It never ceases to amaze me how much people are willing to spend on attaining fitness either by expensive gym memberships, exercise equipments or hours upon hours of excessive workouts.

    However one factor that most people seem to overlook is the necessity of an adherence to a proper diet for fitness.

    I mean look at our distant cousins, the great apes. They primarily frugivores (like us) meaning eaters of fruits and green leaves.

    Just how similar are they to us? A whole lot! Heck, we share about 98% of the same DNA,
    but these creatures are so much stronger and have remarkable fitness, yet don't necessarily engage in excessive exercise.

    It leaves one to wonder, well what if we had a much more similar diet, would we be much stronger?

    I think so.

    So Why not Grab a fruit today, rediscover its potency and make that the bulk of your diet for fitness.

    I betcha the man in the mirror will be glad you did.

    Peak Fitness in 10 minutes or less!

    What if you could get a total body workout in about 10 minutes or less…and with your own body weight?

    Well, you just can and believe me, when I’m in crunch time I do this routine and I feel so energized and ready for the day. Most of all, you may not need any special equipment and definitely not the need for expensive gym memberships.

    Here’s the customized routine.

    1. Execute Jumping Jacks for 1 minute. Try to perform one per second. Personally, I time and execute them going in pace with a metronome. When your hands meet over your head, that’s should be one count.

    2. Now, perform this yoga-esque calisthenics exercise known as Hindu-Push ups. Here is the technique and like me, after reading this next paragraph, take a pause and try 2-3 out right quick.

    -Get on all fours.
    -The starting position is with legs spread wide and butt up in the air.
    -From there, bend your elbows as in a regular pushup, bringing your back down in a circular arc
    -Straighten your arms and end up with your chest up and your hips almost touching the ground.

    When done properly and combined with deep breathing (breathing in on the way down and exhaling-looking up) Hindu pushups build amazing lung power as well as incredible upper body strength and endurance. They also improve flexibility in the shoulders and hips as well as the upper and lower back.

    3. Execute another set of Jumping Jacks for I minute.

    4. Next, perform another set of the afore mentioned Hindu-Push ups to failure.
    5. Finally, execute another set of Jumping Jacks for another minute and folks we’re home free.


    Well, there it is a total body workout that could get you in good shape in no time and for free.

    So, I guess “I have no time for exercise” can no longer be an excuse eh?

    So What about Fitness Yoga?

    Well, there's Power Yoga, Kundalini Yoga, Ashtanga Yoga.

    Now, I've just heard of the new fitness yoga.

    What do I think of it?

    Well, this new option for improving fitness is actually not so new.
    It's perhaps more than 5,000 years old.

    Yoga for fitness is indeed an excellent choice.

    What, with its sun-salutations (which by the way form the basis for many other ancient and superior forms of exercise,) fitness yoga-as this dare I say fad is called-might actually be just right.

    I have read that in engaging in yoga has improved the fitness levels of several people and they have actually proven this in some physical fitness tests.

    Hey, if the poses or fitness postures of yoga form the basis of those hard-core breakdancin' moves we see all around us...you know fitness yoga ain't no joke!
