How to Get a Younger Looking Physique

For each set of muscles being exercised, there is a concentration of thought, or determination of willpower, and the speedy and very remarkable muscular development is due as much to the will force concentrated upon the muscles placed in action as by the exercises. An average reader may not find the statement agreeable. But, then, there have already been cases that could prove that will power is possible thus making this theory not illogical.

I quote at random from a number of medical authorities:

“By force of will, the beating of the heart may become slower or quicker or may even cease under the stress of emotions, such as anger or fear.”

“A very great fright may even cause death or syncope.”

“Concentrated attention, that is, attention concentrated on any portion of our body, produces visible changes there; thus, redness or paleness may be induced in the face or swellings on different parts of the body.”

"Certain monks are known to have induced the red marks of flagellation or the signs of Christ's sufferings upon their bodies. And it is an established fact that by fixing the attention upon any part of the body positive pains may be produced.”

“Rage affects the salivary glands.”

“Fear disturbs the functions of the heart and anxiety the digestive organs.”

Given these examples of cases in our lives where determination has a great role in achieving what we want or doing what we want to do, it is a vital attitude we should apply in achieving muscular development. The will also has a law in common with the muscular system, that is, it grows in strength when exercised.

Mentality has much to do with our health and the duration of our lives. A fixed determination to live will prolong life just as certainly as the feeling that we are growing old lessens our courage and hastens the end. If we lose faith in our strength, it leaves us. If we believe that age is beginning to weigh heavily upon us, we take to sedentary habits and little by little we lapse into lethargic lives. Our mood is vitiated by idleness, and then our feebly renewed tissues and lowered vitality invite diseases. These are the signs of aging. We lose courage and faith in ourselves and then truly become old.

It is a worn but truthful adage that “every one is as old as he thinks himself to be.” If you think yourself aging, surely you will hasten that condition and then marks of physical decay will appear which your years may not warrant. Moral: Don’t admit to yourself, or to any other person, that you are growing old. If you resolutely deny the approach of indications of age you will retard their appearance.

Remember this: When you think young and act young people will think you are a good deal younger than you are and finally you will come to believe it yourself. When you have reached that stage you will have the courage of your convictions and the battle is half won. You will have pride in your physical improvement and, fearing physical deterioration, you will keep trying to prevent it and success will surely come to you.

Four Steps To Losing Weight Naturally And Healthily

Everyone has heard the proverb “an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.” But if you take a look at how people live today it appears that no one is following this advice. Instead of eating healthy foods most people are eating high-fat, high-sugar foods, exercising less and becoming obese. If you don’t want to do what “most” people are doing then here is a four step program for taking care of your precious body and losing weight in the process.

    1. Eat fresh and unprocessed foods as much as possible

Whenever food is processed vitamins and minerals are affected, and sometimes destroyed. In addition, many processed foods have sugar and salt added, and both sugar and salt are the cause of many health problems. Choose fresh fruit over canned fruit and fresh vegetables over frozen or canned vegetables. Instead of snacking on high calorie foods, get into the habit of eating fruit. No one ever got fat by eating apples and oranges.

    2. Get plenty of exercise

There are two parts of weight loss: eating lower calorie foods and getting more exercise. If you don’t get off your butt it will be quite difficult to lose weight. The problem is that our lives don’t include much exercise. We walk a few steps to a car, ride to work and get out and walk a few more steps to a chair and desk and sit there the whole day. Then we come home and also sit around some more.

If you want to lose weight you have to break this pattern. Walk up the stairs instead of taking the elevator. Park the car a bit further away and walk some more. Whenever you can do an errand by walking then do it. After you eat your evening meal, don’t just sit around and watch TV, take a short brisk walk. It will help you digest your food and burn some more calories.

    3. Drink plenty of water throughout the day

Water is a medicine for all kinds of diseases and proper intake of water is a requirement for maintaining good health. How much water is needed? The amount you need varies according to the season of the year but if you are trying to lose weight then drinking four quarts (per day) spread out through the day will be a big help to your weight loss efforts. Water drinking helps to reduce hunger and at the same time satisfies the need to put something in your mouth, as well as helping your body to eliminate toxins.

    4. Avoid harsh drugs and use natural supplements

Don’t be tempted to try a quick fix and solve your health problems with a drug that may have dangerous side effects. Whenever possible, let “food be your medicine.” If you do need to boost your daily diet with something extra, then try natural supplements. For example, Mangosteen juice is a tasty100% natural product with enormous health benefits.

If you follow these four steps to natural and healthy weight loss, you will look better, feel better and really start enjoying your life.

    Losing Weight Through Acupuncture

These days, there are many kinds of diets and methods for weight loss. Some may be healthy for you and others may not, but the vast majority of overweight people are willing to try just about anything. Usually methods of losing weight revolve around the foods that you eat, but one method which has nothing to do with food and has shown some promise of being effective is using acupuncture for weight loss.

Acupuncture has been used for centuries as a method of healing as well as improving a person's overall health. This practice involves placing needles and strategic points which are associated with nerves and have been shown to help realign energy in the body and, therefore, alleviate physical and emotional distress.

So how can acupuncture help you lose weight? Acupuncture helps you be more relaxed and gives you more energy which will in turn put a zip in your step and help you to be able to exercise more thus burning more calories. The stress relief alone from acupuncture can be huge boost to people who are prone to stress eating and that alone can help you lose a lot of weight.

In addition, acupuncture helps boost your circulatory system and can improve your metabolism both things which can help you burn extra calories even when you're just sitting around watching TV. acupuncture techniques help improve the digestive system which can help you to feel full faster and therefore eat less. wended acupuncturist treats you for weight loss often times the needles will be put in the meridian points that are associated with the kidney, spleen and stomach and sometimes those with the lungs, thyroid and mouth. Typically, however, the treatment is customized to the patient and their particular needs.

Losing weight through acupuncture requires a commitment of about two treatments each and every week. These treatments will most likely consist of placing the needles at strategic points in the body as well as sending electrical currents through the needles. Sometimes, the acupuncturist may also have a mixture of herbs that the patient can take which will help remove toxins and strengthen the flow of energy which will aid in weight loss. They may also have dietary recommendations and you may be asked to eliminate some foods from your diet for a specific period of time until your weight stabilizes.

One thing to remember about using acupuncture for weight loss is that it is a slow process and you will have to have some patience. Acupuncture overall can bring on a lifestyle change that will help you lose weight and keep it off. This is a natural method of losing weight that is not harmful to you and should be tried by anyone who has a few extra pounds they need to take off.

Here's a Common Sense Healthy Weight Loss Plan

The weight loss industry is big business these days. Everywhere you go you will find someone selling magic pills or the next greatest exercise machine. There are no magic bullets, if you want a common sense healthy weight loss plan it will take some will power and time. When you decide to try to use common sense to lose weight here are some things to consider.

Make healthy goal setting a part of your life.
One of the most important things you can do for yourself is to make setting healthy goals a part of your everyday life. Do not get on that scale and weigh yourself every day. When the pounds are not coming off on the scale it is all too easy to get discouraged. You may be getting healthier without the weight loss to show for it. Building muscle, retaining water and many other factors can slow the pounds coming off while you are getting more fit each day you stick with your goals. Set your goals for things like daily exercise and eating right instead of losing a pound a week. Think health first and weight loss second.

    Stay clear of fad diets.
Every time I go to the grocery store I see another fad diet is all the rage. It just not make sense to me how doing away with entire food groups can be a good thing to do. The fad diet may work but I don't see how I could stay on these diets long term. Common sense tells me the best diet for me would include cutting out some of the fat and sugar from daily meals. A diet that is partially healthy that you can stick with will do you more good than a fad diet you cannot stay with. It is best to ease into any new diet plan. Diet changes made slowly seem to work best if you are going for the long term.

    Exercise regularly.
Regular exercise is one of the best things you can do for your body. Get that heart rate going for at least 20 minutes when you work out is important to getting and staying fit. If you cannot spend that long in one setting try splitting your time up into intervals you can live with. The more you exercise the easier it becomes. When you start feeling like your energy level is higher you are probably on the right track.

    See your doctor.
It is wise to visit your doctor before you start a diet or weight loss program. Talk over your plans and get a clean bill of health before you start.

Use a common sense healthy weight loss plan in your diet and exercise choices and you will be fine. Your health is the most important thing you have. Good luck in your weight loss adventures.

My Top Ten Reasons Not To Diet

It's the dawn of a New Year again and most of us find we've done it again. Put on those extra holiday pounds. Our usual instinct is to get on the latest hyped up diet fad that's spreading like wildfire over the media. Here's my top ten reasons to opt for sensible eating and exercise instead of those quickie diets:

    1) Name one diet that's worked... forever. Don't count the one's you've lost even 10 lbs on. The weight always comes back. Even worse, your actual percentage of body fat may be greater and your lean body mass lower.

    2) Diets don't teach moderation. True success at weight loss will come when you learn to eat the correct balance of foods each day.

    3) Many diets are restrictive. Restricting the kinds of foods you eat can lead to serious nutritional imbalances. You should choose from all different kinds of food groups.

    4) Many diets are misleading. They make a claim to fortune and fame and then quickly disappear. In other words, the diet was a scam.

    5) Some diets are simply dangerous. Too little food translates to low energy levels. You should be eating well enough to keep up with your normal daily activities and to exercise.

    7) Low calorie diets will often allow some weight loss early on, but eventually a drop in metabolic rate occurs and the weight loss stops.

    8) Diets often convey poor information. For example they often stress only counting calories over making wise food choices. Some diets just have point systems. As long as you don't go over your alloted number of points it doesn't matter what kind of food you eat.

    9) Diets do not like to talk about exercise. They want you to think you will be beautiful and slender by following their program alone. While losing weight will improve you appearance you need some buff muscle tone to really look sharp.

    10) Dieting and low self esteem tend to go together. You'll feel a lot better about yourself if you are eating healthy and exercising regularly. This way you know you are treating your body right every day.

OK, it's your choice. You're at the post holiday crossroads and you need to lose a little weight. Will you go for the whisperings of the diet queen who entices you with those "too good to be true" claims? I hope not. Instead put some moderation in your eating and exercise habits as you progess and succeed through the rest of the New Year.

Useful Advice To Get AND Stay Slim

In order to successfully reduce weight and get slim, you have to eat healthy food, you have to reduce your consume of fat and carbohydrates and you have to exercise regularly. Here are some practical measures to fulfill this goal:

    - Reduce the total amount of food you eat.

    - However, do not try to starve yourself. Eat regularly 4 (or 5) moderate meals each day. In this way your blood sugar level will not drop to low amounts that hinder you in doing physical activities, and give you an impulse to over-eat.

    - Do not use fast-food or other sorts of pre-made food. Make your meals from pure raw ingredients that you buy yourself. In this way you have full control of what you put into your body.

    - Do not eat between the meals.

    - Each meal shall include some lean protein-rich element like lean fish, poultry, mushrooms or lean meat.

    - Cut away all visible fat from meat, poultry or fish.

    - Each meal shall also include some vegetables or fruit. These shall be raw or only gently cooked.

    - In each meal there shall also be some whole corn bread or cereals, beans, peas or potatoes as a carbohydrate and energy source. It is important to vary the energy source from meal to meal. Do not only use bread or potatoes.

    - Fat fish, nuts, almonds, sunflower seeds, olives and the like contain very much fat. But the fat is of a type that is valuable for your health. You shall therefore eat some of these food types every day, but in moderate amounts. You may however choose to increase the amount of these ingredients in your diet if you reduce the amount of bread, and other carbohydrate sources.

    - Do not add much extra oil, butter, fat sauces, fat dressings, sugar or sweet sauces to your food.

    - The little fat you add to your food should be of natural chemically unaltered types like virgin olive oil, sunflower oil, rape oil / canola oil, soy oil, fish oil or natural butter. Vary the oil type to get all essential fatty acids.

    - Ideally you should not consume sweet beverages, except fruit juice in moderate amounts.

    - Reduce your alcohol consume. Alcohol is converted to fat in your body.

    - Drastically reduce your consume of snacks, ice-cream, cakes, cookies, chocolate and the like.

    - Do not consume great amounts of salt. Salt does not make you fat, but it binds water in your body and this excessive water contribute to your weight problem. When you loose fat, the fat also tends to be replaced by water. Reducing the salt consume will help you get rid of excessive water.

    - Some people over-eat because of boredom. Find some new hobby activities or some new friends that share some of your interests.

    - Do some physical exercise at least every second day. You shall include exercises that give your muscles some resistance in order to increase your muscle mass, for example weight lifting. You shall also include some activities that make you consume energy and build up your condition, like running, swimming and cycling. And you should do some stretching exercises, for example yoga postures.

    - A supplement of vitamins and minerals can be useful to make your body able to burn fat effectively or increase your ability to engage in physical activities. When you reduce the amount of food you consume, also the amount of vitamins and minerals you take in will be reduced. This lack can be remanded with an extra supplement.

    - On the market you can also find preparations of herbs, vitamins and minerals especially made for people in a slimming process, giving these effects: They replace a lack of vitamins, minerals and anti-oxidants because of reduced eating. They help your body burn and eliminate fat. They give you a feeling of greater energy and a greater ability to be physically active. They help reduce an abnormal appetite. Some preparations also contain ingredients that reduce the uptake of fat and carbohydrates from the intestines.

Reasons Why So Many People Are Overweight

Obesity has become a huge problem for most people living in developed countries. Today, 30% of children between the ages of 10 and 17 are obese and 60% of all adults are either overweight or obese. There are many reasons for our overweight problem.

Obesity is responsible for increased rates of stroke, heart attack, type II diabetes, and even some forms of cancer. In fact it is responsible for as many premature deaths as smoking. Obesity has now become a threat to our longevity.

On the surface it would seem that the underlying reason is really quite simple. If a person takes in more calories than the person burns, weight gain is the final outcome. These factors certainly play a role in obesity but there are more factors which contribute to this problem.

Modern society has changed a great deal from just a couple of generations ago when agriculture and manual labor were common place. Today people spend a great deal of the day sitting at a desk in an office, driving the car, or relaxing on the sofa at home. All of which has affected the overall health of people living in developed countries.

By the time a person arrives home, the last thing most are thinking about is going for a walk or heading off to the gym. Combine that with the idea that as a nation we eat just as much food, if not more than our ancestors did without nearly as much physical exertion and suddenly the recipe for obesity becomes very clear.

But there is more to it. Statistics show that we have actually doubled our food intake. This is where the fast food industry is to blame. Everything has been super sized and not in a good way either with most of these foods being high in trans fatty acids (the bad fat) and sugar, it is easy to see that weight gain is inevitable.

But the fast food industry cannot take all the credit. Our schooling system has allowed vending machines to offer children fast food and soft drinks with provides no nutritional value and empty calories. School cafeterias that serve food are hardly a step above fast food. Add to that, most parents nowadays don’t have time to cook traditional wholesome foods due their hectic work schedule and as a result buy convenience foods which are also high in fat and sugar and low in nutrition.

As well both children and adults are now more sedentary than any other time in history. PE is no longer mandatory in schools; recess time has almost disappeared, after school play time has been replaced with the Xbox or Gameboy. Now instead of the entire body getting a workout only the thumbs do.

Most adults are too busy or too tired to add an exercise regime to their day and even something as simple as a walk can seem demanding. The result is people do not have time to burn off all those excess calories that they are consuming through the day.

Statistics show that if adults in the home are overweight then chances are that their children will also be overweight. Statistics have shown that when adults in the home are not physically active children in the home will not be active either. Studies have confirmed that both good and bad eating habits are developed in the home. It is a combination of what adults allow their children to eat and what they serve their children which is contributing to our overweight crisis.

The reasons for our overweight problem are complex. Increasing physical activity and improving nutrition are great ways to start to work towards a solution to this predicament.

Useful Habits for Healthy Weight Loss

    Fitness Habits And Losing Weight

Fitness Habits And Losing Weight by Eric Cho -

These days just about everyone you meet is looking to lose a few pounds. In fact, obesity is the number one health problem facing the developed world today. Fitness habits and losing weight go hand in hand in resolving this issue.

Some may think that the answer is pretty straightforward. The basic theory is that in order to lose weight a person must take in fewer calories than are burned for the same 24 hour period. However, calorie reduction which happens too quickly will cause the body to think it is starving and thus it begins to store fat so that it can be used later by the body as a food supply.

That means that in order to be successful in reducing calories it will need to be done slowly while increasing the level of fitness. Physical activity is an important part of the formula to lose weight.

There are simple things that a person can do to increase their fitness level. Too often it’s assumed a gym membership is a requirement and although that might be nice, for some people not being able to afford a gym membership is not a valid excuse for not getting fit.

Walking is not only cheap it is the best activity for both burning calories and keeping your heart healthy which is also very important. When a person is extremely out of shape, first consult with your doctor and once the go ahead is given, start slow for example go for a walk around the block.

Increase the speed of the walk or the duration of the walk as fitness improves and then incorporate some hills. If jogging is preferred it can also be incorporated into the workout.

Another option is to purchase fitness equipment for the home. This equipment can include rowing machines, treadmills, stationary bikes, and ski machines.

A treadmill takes up space but overall it is a great choice but they aren’t cheap. Stay away from bells and whistles and finding an affordable treadmill will not be a problem.

Stationary bikes have been around for a long time and they are also a good choice. They take up very little room, are low impact, and a great place to start getting into shape.

Rowing machines will give a total body work out and they have minimal impact on the joints which is beneficial for anyone with joint problems. However it can take a little bit of practice getting used to.

Ski machines are also a good choice for a full body workout however they do take up a fair bit of space. If space is no problem, they are an excellent choice but do start slow as injuries can occur.

Now that exercise equipment options have been covered, food now needs to be addressed. Start by doing a calorie calculation to determine the current calorie intake then reduce this by 250 to 500 calories a day. Do not reduce calorie intake by more than 500 calories or the body will go into starvation mode. To lose weight a man should be taking in on average no more than 2000 calories and a woman on average no more than 1500 calories. Of course if the daily activity level is really high then calorie intake will need to increase as well.

Fitness habits and losing weight go hand in hand because you cannot have one without the other. Combining calorie reduction with increased physical activity is the start to successful weight loss.

Losing Weight Through Exercises Can be Helping You Out for the BEDROOM

Exercise Your Way to Mind Blowing Sex. The Results are Fantastic!

Exercise Your Way to Mind Blowing Sex. The Results are Fantastic! by Nancie Dermathol-5845

People who are physically and mentally fit are more likely to have much better sex lives. This may seem instinctive, however many people find that the road to a fit mind and body is very bumpy.

It usually involves losing weight, exercising, getting plenty of sleep, and reducing stressful things in ones life. However, the big reward for doing these things not only is to look and feel better, but also to have an increase in the pleasure of sexual activities. So what is the secret?

    1. Move that Body! 20 to 30 minutes of moderate physical activity a day can help to increase the body’s natural hormones which are important for sexual arousal, increased aerobic capacity and muscle strength as well as overall self image. People who exercise on a regular basis will have increased levels of desire, confidence, and greater sexual satisfaction. Studies also show that regular exercise can affect erectile dysfunction and low libido in both women and men.

    2. Sleep, sleep, sleep. In order to be able to keep up with your partner under the sheets, it requires a lot of energy and the right mood. The mood that people are in can be affected by the amount of sleep that they are getting at night. People who sleep six hours or less are more likely to be stressed, tired, or more upset/angry than those who sleep 8 hours or more. Not only does lack of sleep lower your sex drive, but it can also affect motor skills (hence more accidents), ability to lose weight (hence poor self perception), have increases your chance of having a metabolic or hormonal disorder. Think about it, all of these things could really put a damper on your sex life. So the next time you are able, increase your sleep and see how it affects your mood and fun in the bedroom.

    3. You are what you Eat! Yes, it had to be said. A poor diet can cause health problems. Think about it, you eat what you want and end up overweight. Now your self esteem is right out the window again and worse being overweight could cause a variety of health issues. These health issues cause you to have to take medication. A lot of the medications that are out there have a side effect of causing decrease in sexual function or libido. If you eat healthy, you will not only look good and feel good, but it is likely that you will not have any sexual dysfunction in the bedroom.

    4. Unwind your Mind! The brain is the most important sex organ of all. It is in your mind where you feel self confident and energized from keeping body fit. In order to have a healthy sex life, you have to be able to unwind and experience pleasure. If you are stressed from work or something in the family, this will definitely have an affect on your performance in the bedroom. Make time to unwind after your busy day by yourself. You need to set priorities in life, make a schedule, and stick to it. Scheduling a sexual interlude is not a bad thing, especially in this day and age where families are extremely busy running from activity to activity in the evenings. But, keep in mind; once you schedule it… do not cancel it.

Living healthy does have its benefits. Getting regular exercise, eating healthy, getting enough sleep, and unwinding from your stress will all greatly improve your chances of having a wonderful relationship with your partner in the bedroom. Set your priorities and take care of yourself and your sex life will become enjoyable once again.
