Anger Management For The Teen Who Knows It All

Teens now a day seem to know everything. Heck they think we just exist for the shear pleasure of cooking them their meals and taking them where they need to go. Seems more than not, they love to talk back and yell. Why not yell they feel the louder they yell the more we will hear them and then they get mad when we do not understand and then they walk out stomping or worse, cussing!

Teens usually fly of the handle when they have no patience with us, or they have a disagreement with their curfew. Teens have every thing going with them, from hormones, to girl or boy friends to just about anything else if they look at them wrong.

By telling them you will not talk to them when they are yelling is a good way to start. Tell them that nothing is every solved with yelling and tell them you know they would want to come to a better resolved for the problems, so talk it over with them. Sit, yes that’s right moms and dads, sit get out of the fast lane and take time! By sitting down, and listening to your teen, you will be surprised that they are caught off guard. Tell them you are all ears and that you want to resolve the problem.

If the anger is there because you will not let them go out and stay late, compromise with them. Tell them you will let them, if they will start to practice talking things out and not yelling at it all and becoming angry. But also in that tell them they will have consequences if they do not abide by the new decision, for example if you allow them an extra hour, and they come home later, tell them you will reduce the next time. But be sure to tell them ahead of time.

You will be surprised that teens are all to willing to negotiate. You need to learn how to be an auctioneer…bargain, start small and then go from there. By talking and sitting, yes sitting with your teen you will find that the anger will diminish over time.

Remember the days when there was no TV?

Remember the days when there was no TV? Well plenty of us don't. Today television is the norm for all families and it's really cut into 'family time' in a big way. Talk is to a minimum as everyone stares at the screen. Set up a few rules and regulations and you can prevent your whole family from becoming strangers in their own home.

Set specific times for watching television. Many kids turn on the TV as soon as they get home each day. On weekends they wake up and the first thing they do is turn on the TV. If you don't take control of it, television will take over your children's life. During the week, television viewing should be kept to a maximum of two to two and a half hours. There are plenty of chores and homework tasks for the kids to finish when they get home each day.

Don't have the television on during dinner and let everyone sit in front of it and eat. Dinner is a time for the family to be together. It's a time for everyone to sit together and talk about their day. We'd never know what exciting thing happened at school or that our spouse had gotten a raise if we were all mesmerized by the TV. If we don't spend time talking together then we really miss out on important events and changes in each other’s lives. This is a truly sacred time when we all sit at the dinner table.

It's no secret that obesity is on the rise. It's also not a surprise why. When I was a child we went out to play when the sun came up and came back in when the sun went down, we played outside and ran around all day. Today kids have so many video games or favorite show that they can literally stay in the house for days. When do people tend to overeat? When they're distracted by something, like TV or video games, they don't watch what they are putting into their mouths. Our kids are too young to be unhealthy and overweight. They are the largest growing segment of the population suffering from obesity. Children are becoming couch potatoes from watching too much television.

Kids need rules for watching TV, and this doesn't exclude in the bedroom. Many kids now have a television in their bedroom. It isn't ok for them to have the TV on all night long just because it is in their room. If you allow your kids to have the TV on as they go to sleep, then put the timer on so it shuts off. Having the TV shut off automatically will ensure they are able to get a good night sleep.

Just as important as how much television a child watches, is WHAT they watch. Just because it's on TV it doesn't mean that it's appropriate for young views, especially some daytime shows and nighttime dramas. Some are inappropriate for children under eighteen. Cable and satellite don’t make it any easier to monitor what they watch. On regular television most program don’t' show until after 11pm but on cable they can be on all night. Those stations are not regulated like the local channels; therefore as a parent, actively paying attention to what your kids are watching is important.

If you are concerned the kids may be watching shows while you aren't home then you can block certain stations. If you block a channel that show programs you feel are inappropriate for your child's age then they won't be able to view that channel. You can call your local cable or satellite company to find out how to go about doing this with their service. If your kids complain, sit them down and explain why they can’t watch the channel. Entering into a healthy discussion about TV programs is important. As your kids age, they can handle heavier subject matter, but that is the decision of the parent.

The TV doesn't have to be an evil addition to the home but it just needs to be kept under control. Children need to be active not sedentary. Parents need to regulate television time for their kids. Instead, go to the park or the zoo. Real life is much more interesting than anything on TV.

Drinking water is a good way to get in shape. Most everyone needs to drink at least eight glasses of water everyday. This is what keeps our bodies hydrated and looking great. We need water to keep our organs in good shape and allow our bodies to function properly. We need to be certain that we are maintaining our water consumption habits to lose weight and keep our body in good working order.

Snacking on junk foods is an easy way to gain weight. If you really want to drop the weight that you are gaining, you should start to eliminate these junk foods out of your diet. You need to replace the junk and the candy with fruits and vegetables. You will be pleasantly shocked at how well they taste and there are so many new and improved healthy foods out on the market for you to use today. Make Your Baby Look Angelic In Their Christening Gown

The christening gown is usually one of the first things that comes to mind as you are planning this sacred celebration for your baby. Everybody’s focus during this special occasion will be on your precious little one so you want him or her to look beautiful from head to toe.

A christening gown is usually the selected attire for baby girls and can also be worn by baby boys unless a suit or romper is preferred. Gowns are customarily made out of a white fabric such as silk, cotton, satin or organza. White is the chosen color since it symbolizes innocence and purity.

Because the christening gown you choose might very well become a family tradition that will be worn by future generations, be sure you select an heirloom quality gown. Another consideration will be the time of the year during which the baptism or christening will take place. Appropriate sleeve length and fabric thickness should be chosen for the season.

After all the basic decisions are made, remember to let your heart do the shopping and allow yourself to fall in love with the gown you ultimately choose for your baby.

If you are planning to save your baby’s christening gown as an heirloom, you might want to consider purchasing a special gown preservation bag in addition to taking the proper steps for cleaning and storing it.

Now comes the truly fun part, the accessories. Here is a list of just some of the christening and baptism accessories you might want to add to your baby’s outfit.

    • Bonnet – A christening gown is only truly complete with the wearing of an adorable bonnet, perhaps one with a cross embroidered on it. Some styles are even designed to easily become her future wedding handkerchief.
    • Shoes and Socks – To truly have your baby looking beautiful from head to toe, you’ll need shoes and socks that are meant especially for this occasion usually showcasing a cross design.
    • Blanket or Shawl – This will not only complement your baby’s outfit but will also add warmth. To make it a keepsake, some styles offer the option of personalizing.
    • Jewelry – It’s amazing the tiny infant sizes available for necklaces, bracelets, earrings and rings. A cross necklace, for instance, will accessorize the gown and make a treasured keepsake.
    • Bib – A personalized bib is essential for protecting the gown from stains so it can be properly preserved.
    • Towel – An embroidered baptism towel is another accessory. It might be able to be used during the actual ceremony and then kept as a souvenir.

This is a once-in-a-lifetime occasion for your baby so you’ll want to devote attention to every last detail from their christening gown to the accessories so he or she looks like an angel for all the photos that will be taken that day and treasured for years to come.

tips and ideas on exercise during pregnancy

Often when women are going to having a baby they're under the misconception that they can eat all they want and let up on exercising. Researchers have found out that this can be a great risk to both the health of the baby and the mom. To take extra care of both yourself and your baby one of the most important thing you must do is to begin a healthy diet plan to reduce your appetite and workout with daily exercise during pregnancy.

So how do I know what's the right exercise during pregnancy? First, it is really important to know that exercising to much during pregnancy is as wrong as being too stationery without any exercise.

But what's not okay with no exercise during pregnancy? Because of the extra weight gain your body becomes a bit off balance. This and the position on the foetus can place a lot of stress on your back. By strengthening your back muscles through exercise, you can avoid a lot of pain in the back.

The next problem with being without exercising during pregnancy is that you can gain too quickly too much weight. Doctors recommend that you not gain any weight during the first trimester. During the second and third trimester you should gain about a pound per week. It can cause cardiovascular health problems for you and the baby by gaining more than the suggested amount.

Doing overmuch exercise during pregnancy can also be injurious for you and your baby. Exercising too much puts a lot of strain on your body. Additional strain can cause you to severely injure your body, because ligaments of a woman become more fragile during pregnancy advised to adjust to a growing body and the growth of a foetus. Too many exercises can also affect a disadvantage for the proper development of the baby. Sometimes a miscarriage can even occur since the development of the baby is hindered so much.

So during pregnancy how do I know how much to exercise? Basically having a good twenty minutes of exercise in each day should be sufficient for keeping mom and baby healthy. Normally you can exercise more than this, but you must be careful about the type of exercise that you are doing. Walking, yoga and swimming are the best types of exercise during pregnancy. Anything that involves bouncing, getting your heart rate up too high, or the possibility of falling you must avoid. Most non-contact sports are all right to keep going with as long as you do not overwork yourself and you're exceedingly careful with your body. If you love jogging, this is great to go along. But remember that you shouldn't jog more than two miles per day during pregnancy.

So if you are planning on going to having a baby or you are already pregnant, begin an exercise workout right away. Safe exercise during pregnancy is the perfect way to hold you and baby healthy and to stay in shape during your pregnancy. Another really significant advice is to talk to your doctor or a nutritionist on how to get a healthy diet for the months with your child, since a right diet is very important for you and your baby as well.

    The Obsessive-compulsive Patient - A Case Study

Notes of therapy session with Magda, female, 58, diagnosed with Obsessive-Compulsive Personality Disorder (OCPD)

Magda is distressed when I reschedule our appointment. "But we always meet on Wednesdays!" - she pleads, ignoring my detailed explanations and my apologies. She is evidently anxious and her voice trembles. In small, precise movements she rearranges the objects on my desk, stacking stray papers and replacing pens and pencils in their designated canisters.

Anxiety breeds frustration and is followed by rage. The outburst lasts but a second and Magda reasserts control over her emotions by counting aloud (only odd numbers). "So, when and where are we going to meet?" - she finally blurts out.

"On Thursday, same hour, same place" - I reiterate for the third time in as many minutes. "I must make a note of this" - Magda sounds lost and desperate - "I have so many things to do on Thursday!" If Thursday is not convenient, we can make it the next Monday, I suggest. But this prospect of yet another shift in her rigidly ordered universe alarms her even more: "No, Thursday is fine, fine!" - she assures me unconvincingly.

A moment of uneasy silence ensues and then: "Can you give it to me in writing?" Give what in writing? "The appointment." Why does she need it? "In case something goes wrong." What could go wrong? "Oh, you won't believe how many things often go wrong!" - she laughs bitterly and then visibly hyperventilates. What for instance? She'd rather not think about it. "One, three, five..." - she is counting again, trying to allay her inner turmoil.

Why is she counting odd numbers? These are not odd numbers, but prime numbers, divisible only by themselves and by 1. I rephrase my question: Why is she counting prime numbers? But her mind is clearly elsewhere: am I certain that the office isn't reserved by another therapist for Thursday? Yes, I am certain, I checked with the clinic's receptionist before I rescheduled. How reliable is she, or is it a he?

I try a different tack: is she here to discuss logistics or to attend therapy? The latter. Then why don't we start. "Good idea" - she says. Her problem is that she is overloaded with assignments and can't get anything done despite putting in 80 hour weeks. Why doesn't she get help or delegate some of her workload? She can't trust anyone to do the job properly. Everyone nowadays is so indolent and morally lax.

Has she actually tried to collaborate with someone? Yes, she did but her co-worker was impossible: rude, promiscuous, and "a thief". You mean, she embezzled company funds? "In a way". In what way? She spent the whole day making private phone calls, surfing the Net, and eating. She was also slovenly and fat. Surely, you can't hold her obesity against her? Had she eaten less and exercised more, she wouldn't have looked like a blob - demurs Magda.

These shortcomings aside, was she an efficient worker? Magda glowers at me: "I just told you, I had to do everything by myself. She made so many mistakes that often I had to retype the documents." What word processing software does she use? She is accustomed to the IBM Selectric typewriter. She hates computers, they are so unreliable and user-hostile. When "these mindless monsters" were first introduced into the workplace, the chaos was incredible: furniture had to be moved, wires laid, desks cleared. She hates such disruptions. "Routine guarantees productivity" - she declares smugly and counts prime numbers under her breath.

Home schooling is an attractive option to consider for many parents

Home schooling is an attractive option to consider for many parents. The program offers many advantages over learning in traditional schools. Home schooling also provides more one on one teaching time where the teacher can focus on the student as opposed to handling numerous students at the same time. This will allow children to obtain quality instruction.

Students of home schooling also benefit from having a very comfortable and familiar environment for a classroom. Home-schooled students no longer have to adapt to new surroundings, which can also sometimes affect a child's ability to learn. This system can also provide a way for parents to be closer with their children and can also help parents have a more active role in educating their children in the manner that they want.

Home schooling can effectively be used by employing a variety of methods available. There are classical home schooling methods that follow traditional education in conventional educational institutions. Classical home schooling comprises of primary, secondary and tertiary phases which is most accepted in most educational institutions today. Other educational philosophies can also be adopted through the home schooling method.

But the main difference that home schooling can provide is that it can allow a more varied approach into teaching and learning. You can choose from a variety of accepted techniques available that you can use to effectively help your child learn and absorb new knowledge. There are unit studies that make use of a central theme, implemented in context on all the subjects that are tackled.

Home schooling can also follow a student-paced learning approach which depends on a student's learning speed. This approach helps students understand fully or master a concept before proceeding to the next subject or topic. Another approach is the "unschooling" method that encourages students to depend not on direct instruction but learning through an exploration of interests. This enables a child to learn by doing. This approach aims to provide learning opportunities through games and real life circumstances and problems which will enable a child to learn without coercion.

Home schooling is a credible alternative to traditional education. It can provide parents with a choice on how to effectively educate their children. As home schooling is fast getting the approval of more and more people, it becomes a very attractive option made available for you and your children. With your children's future in mind, having different options can be a good thing. And home schooling is an option that you must consider in trying to provide the best education for your child.

You are an incredible spirit of divine perfection

You are an incredible spirit of divine perfection, the same composition as God. Creator is an ocean and you are a drop of water in that ocean. You carry within you the exact components and properties of the entire ocean. You are made of God, in the reflection of God, and God is in you.

This does not mean that you are God (as a drop of water is not the ocean) or that God takes on a human form as a woman or man (as the ocean is not a drop of water). It means that your spirit, which is housed in your body, is part of a giant whole we refer to as Great Spirit. God has many names: Great Spirit, All That Is, Mother/Father, Great Mystery, Allah, and Lord. All are interchangeable. In fact, everything is made up of the same energy. All things-every tree, rock, grain of sand, gust of wind, drop of water, animal, insect, bird, planet, star-are expressions of the divine, and we are all interconnected in a divine and profound way.

The universe is unlimited, and, if you choose to explore it, you will awaken to a whole new way of knowing-a whole new way of being. Spirit is available to all people at equal levels; there is no "better than," or "more deserving." The choice to raise your consciousness means to broaden your awareness, open up to new possibilities, step out of your comfort zone, and allow information other than what you already "know."

The following basic truths are unifying principles I have learned in my work with the spirits. They present concepts about healing and working with energy. Throughout this book I cite case histories and suggest how you might apply them to your own life to enhance your process of healing and well-being. I guarantee that if you make them a part of your daily life, your life will change accordingly.

Anyone, at any time, can make choices for happiness and for healing. This includes you. Read the following truths and begin to ask how they might affect your life.

    Universal Truths

    1. God loves and values you unconditionally.

    2. You are first and foremost a spirit-a soul having an earth experience. This earth-walk is but one fraction of your being.

    3. Your spirit has a divine purpose.

    4. You agreed to forget previous existence. This makes becoming enlightened a quality of remembering who you are. Remembering is embracing this reality and then making the necessary changes in your life to reflect this truth. Respect, honor, compassion, and reverence for all life are necessary components for the path to awareness.

    5. You are here on earth to experience, to co-create with Creator, and to remember. If you do nothing more from this point on in your personal growth, you will achieve two out of the three before you die. You will experience and you will co-create. You cannot help it. It is happening every second of every day. It will, however, take a conscious decision to remember. It is a conscious decision to awaken, to grow spiritually, to become.

    6. Walking the spiritual path means that you made a decision to seek the truth of who you are. The quality of life that you live is strictly a matter of choice. You may choose to live your life at any level of awareness; all are honored and respected; nothing is judged.

    7. The universe is continually offering opportunities, opening doors, and answering prayers. You can choose to be conscious and awaken to these offerings.

    8. Judgments, punishments, opinions of right and wrong or good and bad are human concepts. These concepts are illusions that hide the perfection of the soul. Judgments and punishments do not exist in the spirit world.

Life is the journey of becoming, a continual cycle of evolving from one lifetime to the next. What you do not achieve in this lifetime, you will achieve later. You choose the rate at which you evolve. To follow the spiritual path is a choice and a matter of readiness, but it offers phenomenal rewards. It is a completely personal experience; no two existences unfold in the same manner. As the spirits constantly remind me, everyone participating in the earth-walk will eventually come to complete consciousness. It is only a matter of when.

Our job as humans is to clear ourselves of the many judgments we hold toward others and ourselves. Judgments are what most often get in the way of personal growth. When a person directs judgments toward others, it usually indicates personal feelings of inadequacy, unworthiness, low self-esteem and lack of self-love. Judgments can cause fear, hatred, arrogance, war, greed, anger, blame, jealousy, pain, and loneliness-the psychological disorders of the human experience. They are often imprinted heavily and cloud the reality of one's own being, which creates tremendous fear. Judgments have nothing to do with truth or the perfection of the soul.

Spirit does not pressure you to change, because you are loved unconditionally for all of eternity. The urge for change is a pressure you feel from within-your own soul urging you to create a better life. Happiness, peace, deep joy, and a closer connection to Source are all available to you. Something has encouraged you to ask questions, to seek, to pick up spiritual material. If your life is not being lived from a place of fullness, love, spontaneity, passion, sensuality, and divine joy, then you probably need to make some changes in your life in order to attain these qualities.

Baby's new skin is extremely delicate

Advertisements for baby skin care products often remind of about a fact that we already know, it is simple common sense. Baby's new skin is extremely delicate. It needs special care to avoid irritation and allergic reactions. It needs very mild products to be used on it for these reasons.

Of course, you and I know these things, but it may come as a surprise to know that many of the products you see advertised for baby's skin are not mild, but often have ingredients in them that are really too harsh for an infants skin. Before you buy, you should know what to look for and what to avoid. You will have to look past the cuddly packaging and see the product for its true self in order to decide whether it should be used on your babys skin.

When you think of things that most commonly cause allergic reactions on your skin, you will realize that artificial fragrance and dyes are two of the top ingredients to blame. What are the first two things you notice about most baby care products? For me, I notice that fresh baby scent.

But, of course, this scent has to come from somewhere: artificial fragrance. How many people do you know that cannot be around perfume? Maybe they cannot even walk through the cosmetics area of department stores because they are so highly allergic to it.

If you talk to these people, you often find that they were not always allergic to this kind of fragrance; they developed it over the years. What are we doing when we start our children out in life, exposing them to high levels of man-made fragrances day after day? Will they eventually become as allergic to fragrance as some people are?

Dyes are the second thing mentioned above. Artificial dyes are in so many things that we eat, drink, etc. By exposing our babies to them from a very young age, we are only adding to the chances of them developing a reaction to them.

It has been proven that chemicals can be absorbed through the skin and it has been proven that artificial dyes often cause behavioral problems in young children. Are we accelerating this process with the constant exposure to dyes through baby skin care products? When I think about the things that I have used on my children, just because I loved that baby smell, I feel guilty.

I think of various rashes that occurred during my childrens infant stages and wonder if it was due to the baby products that I used on them.

Other ingredients that we should be aware of in regards to our infants skin include: citrus juices (often, in organic products, you will find essential oils from citrus fruits), menthol, and peppermint.

It is wise to look into essential oils and which ones are safe for babies (and pregnant mothers); not all of them are good to use on such tender skin. Keep in mind that your baby will be happier if their skin is not irritated in any way. Of course, happier babies generally help parents be more at peace, so helping your baby in this way helps you as well.

Another product that affects your baby that should be considered is laundry detergent. Most of the detergents created and marketed for cleansing clothes are created to give your clothes a fresh, clean, scent. What does this mean? Obviously it means that there is a heavy concentration of fragrance in the product.

This fragrance is transferred to the clothes during the wash and remains in them. By using these products, you are still putting man made fragrance on your baby's skin. Be picky, look for products that do not contain artificial dyes or fragrances to protect your baby from further irritation.

Remember, your baby's skin was protected from all of these good smelling, pretty, man-made chemicals for the entire time he was in your womb. His skin has no idea how to react to the various environmental factors that it will encounter as a natural part of life as we know it today. You can help his skin adjust to the world around him by using as many non-irritating ingredients as possible.
