Remember, Allergy Season is Coming

Allergy Season is Coming

Allergy Season is Coming by Abigail Franks

Spring is that wonderful time of year that's associated with rebirth. After a long winter, all the flowers and plants begin to bud and bloom. There's nothing like the beauty of new leaves and the sights of fresh flowers everywhere. That is, unless you or a loved one suffers from allergies.

Then, the thoughts of spring are more about just being able to breath and the misery of constant allergy symptoms. While there are many people allergic to a lot of things, even people who usually do not suffer from allergies can be affected in the springtime. This is no doubt due to the explosive growth of various pollens and natural substances that make for those spring flowers and growth.

Well, we can't do much about the various pollens in the air, it is possible to get some relief from constant sneezing, runny nose and watery eyes. One such way to help limit the symptoms is to better control your indoor environment. Allergies can actually become worse indoors due to the potential of increased concentrations of these natural allergy triggers.

A good way to help limit the amount of allergens in your home is to keep your windows and doors closed as much as possible. If not practical, you may want to consider shade screens. Shade screens have fewer and smaller holes than regular screens. This in turn may keep some of the dirt and pollen out of your home. At the very least, you should consider washing your window screens to remove the buildup of allergens on the screen material itself.

You may also be interested in a free report on how to eliminate asthma triggers in your home that is available at the link below. Asthma and allergy sufferers have many of the same triggers in common.

Though many people suggest the use of air conditioning during high allergy season. This really doesn't work if you don't change or clean the filters regularly. If you or a loved one has been having an especially difficult time during allergy season, you may want to consider using high efficiency particulate air or HEPA type filters in your equipment.

While air conditioning cools and dries the air, many of us simply cannot afford this luxury. An alternative is to get a high quality dehumidifier for use indoors. An air purifier can even be used to help limit the allergy triggers inside your home.

The key to living with allergies in the springtime is to limit your exposure to the allergens that bring on the symptoms. To that end, when possible don't venture outdoors during windy periods. Doing your own lawn work is also not a great idea. Consider hiring a landscaping company to handle the plant and landscape chores such as cutting the lawn, pulling weeds, etc.

If you find that your allergy problems are out of control, you should seek help from your doctor. While many of the over-the-counter nasal sprays etc. do work many are habit-forming and create more problems than they solve.

Asthma Cure - Herbs and Ayurvedic Remedies, Asthma Home Remedy by tom alter

Asthma is a chronic respiratory disorder in which the inner lining of the respiratory tract becomes inflamed. Alternatively it could be blocked with a layer of mucus or could become constricted due to some other reason. All these factors could lead to severe problems in respiration, which could even result in death of the person.

Though asthma is a chronic disorder, it does not manifest itself all the time. It is exacerbated by certain triggers, which can lead to the bouts of respiratory problems, known as asthmatic attacks. During an asthmatic attack, there is severe difficulty in breathing, characterized by wheezing, gasping, shortness of breath and inability of speech. Generally an attack does not last more than a few minutes. However, a severe attack could kill within those few moments the attack lasts.

The exact cause of asthma is not known. But in asthmatic people, the attacks are caused due to some environmental factors to which they are allergic. There are many allergenic factors in the environment such as dust, hair, pollen, lint, smoke, cigarette smoke, perfumes, deodorants and many others. When such an allergen is present in the environment of the person whose respiratory tract is inflamed, the person develops a violent reaction. This is known as an asthmatic attack.

Asthma is known as Shwaasa roga in Ayurveda. There are five main types of asthma in Ayurveda: tamaka shwaasa roga, urdhwa shwaasa roga, chinna shwaasa roga, maha shwaasa roga and kshudra shwaasa roga. All these kinds of shwaasa roga are due to vitiation of vata and kapha doshas. The main types of vata that are vitiated are the praana vata and the udaana vata.

    (1) Useful Herbs in the Treatment of Asthma

    - Aniseed (Pimpinella anisum)

Aniseed is useful in the treatment of asthma due to its expectorant properties.

    - Arjuna (Terminalia arjuna)

The bark of the arjuna plant has benefits in the treatment of asthma. It is taken in a powder form sprinkled on the preparation of rice and condensed milk known as kheer.

    - Asafetida (Ferula fetida)

Along with whooping cough and bronchitis, asafetida is also useful in the treatment of asthma. For better results, its gum is taken in a mixture with honey.

    - Bay Berry (Myrica nagi)

Bay berry bark is effective in the treatment of asthma. It can be taken in the form of either a decoction or a powder.

    - Bishop’s Weed (Trachyspermum ammi)

Bishop’s weed is an expectorant. It can relieve dried up phlegm within the respiratory tract. It can be taken with buttermilk for best results.

    - Black Nightshade (Solanum nigrum)

Black nightshade can remove the catarrh and phlegm deposited in the bronchial tubes. Its fruits are taken for the remedy.

    - Celery (Apium graveolens)

Celery has antispasmodic properties; hence it is beneficial in the treatment of asthma. Either the herb itself or its seeds can be used for the purpose.

    - Clove (Syzygium aromaticum)

Clove has expectorant properties; hence it is effective in the treatment of asthma.

    - Garlic (Allium sativum)

Regular use of garlic can reduce the severity of asthmatic attacks.

    - Ginger (Zingiber officinale)

Ginger is used in treatment of asthma due to its expectorant properties.

    (2) Dietary Treatments for Asthma

The following dietary guidelines must be followed in order to reduce asthma:-

    - Sour foods such as curd and buttermilk must be avoided.

    - Cold fruits such as bananas, guavas, watermelons and papayas are very risky as they can build up phlegm in the bronchial tubes.

    - Fried and pungent foods must be avoided.

    - Dry grapes are beneficial in asthmatic patients.

    (3) Ayurvedic Treatment for Asthma

Sitopaladi choorna is a very common medicine taken by asthmatic patients. It is to be taken thrice or four times a day, mixed with honey. One alternative to sitopaladi choorna is the pippaladi choorna.

Agastya rasayana is another popular medicine which is prepared with Chebulic Myroblan as its main ingredient. Along with Chyavanprasha, it is commonly prescribed to asthmatic patients.

There are some specific Ayurvedic preparations that are prescribed in order to reduce the attacks of asthma immediately. These are Shwasa Kaasa Chintamani rasa, Suwarna Pushpasuga rasa, Kanakasava, etc.

    (4) Home Medications

    - Mix a couple of leaves of the holy basil with honey and consume them every morning. This is a very effective remedy to keep asthmatic attacks away.

    - When an attack is about to come, then chewing on some leaves of the holy basil mixed with rock salt.

    - In order to clean the respiratory tract, roast gram and have them with milk just before going to bed.

    - Grind some turmeric (use old turmeric for better results). Mix one teaspoonful of this powder with one tablespoonful of honey (again, the honey must be as old as possible). This is to be taken orally. This recipe is believed to work even when all other methods fail.

    - For asthma in the early stages, it is beneficial to chew on some black pepper before going to bed.

    - For temporary relief from asthmatic attacks, mix some leaves of the holy basil with black pepper and consume them.

    - One more remedy is to mix some lemon juice with ginger and consume it once a day.

    - Chewing a single fruit of the Chebulic Myroblan (harad) every night will give tremendous relief from asthmatic attacks.

    - Boil six cloves in half a cup of water. Take a teaspoonful of this decoction with honey thrice a day.

Know The Signs Of A Bronchial Cough

There are many times of the year when bronchial infections seem to increase. While not a researcher or medical professional, I have noticed that cold and rainy weather along with the changes in seasons, my kids seem to have more than their share of colds and flu like symptoms.

Bronchitis, like many illnesses is broken down as either acute or short term, and chronic which is much longer. A major sign of an upper respiratory tract infection is a persistent cough. In an attempt to remove yellow or green mucus. When infection hits, the pulmonary tract, it's not unusual for a body to generate huge amounts of mucus. One symptom of bronchitis is an ongoing and persistent bronchial cough.

A bronchial cough can quickly be identified by a tight feeling in a person's chest and usually wheezing. The person with bronchitis may also not be able to breathe deeply and breathing may be difficult or painful.

Wheezing often sounds as if there's an air leak characterized as a whistling noise in the chest that occurs when breathing. This is due to the obstructions and constrictions of the bronchial tubes due to infection.

The absolute best cure for bronchitis and a chesty cough is to make an appointment with your doctor. There are medications available that can provide relief not only for the cough, but also the infection. This is especially important if the coughing is keeping the person from sleeping or is more violent than normal.

Hard coughing can lead to ruptures or pulled muscles that then make it painful to cough. Anyone with an illness like a respiratory tract infection also needs the rest in a medical doctor can help with both.

Until you're able to get in to see the doctor however, have the person with bronchitis resting in a more upright position. This sometimes can help control the coughing. Hot tea with honey has also been known as a home remedy for a cough.

Neither of these two ideas however can replace an appointment with the doctor. Left to itself, a bronchial infection can result in pneumonia, asthma or other serious and chronic diseases.

Analyzing Acute Bronchitis & Chronic Bronchitis

Acute Bronchitis & Chronic Bronchitis by Bobby Ryatt

What is the difference between the two?

    Chronic Bronchitis

Chronic bronchitis is defined as excessive mucus secretion in the bronchi and a chronic or recurrent mucus-producing cough that lasts three or more months and recurs year after year. In diagnosing chronic bronchitis, it is important to rule out heart disease, lung infections, cancer and other disorders that may produce bronchitis-like symptoms.

Chronic bronchitis may result from a series of attacks of acute bronchitis, or it may evolve gradually because of heavy smoking or the inhalation of air contaminated with other pollutants in the environment.

When the so-called smoker's cough is constant rather than occasional, the likelihood exists that the mucus-producing layer of the bronchial lining has thickened, narrowing the airways to the point where breathing becomes increasingly difficult.

With the immobilization of the cilia that sweep the air clean of foreign irritants, the bronchial passages become more vulnerable to further infection and the spread of tissue damage.

Patients with chronic cough, but no history of recent upper respiratory infections should be evaluated for other possible causes of cough such as postnasal drip, asthma, and gastroesophageal reflux.

    Acute Bronchitis

This is one of the most common disorders seen in clinical practice. Bronchitis is generally caused by a virus, and does not respond to antibiotic therapy. Unfortunately, seventy percent of the time, the diagnosis usually leads to a prescription for antibiotics.

This diagnosis is one of the leading causes of antibiotic abuse. Bronchitis often evolves from a severe cold. This disorder may also follow or accompany the flu, or it may begin without having had an infection.

Bronchitis - an inflammation of the bronchial tubes; may be caused by smoking, air pollution and viral or bacterial infections. Complications of a cold or flu may lead to acute bronchitis, which can be treated with over the counter cold remedies and by drinking plenty of fluids.

How can It be treated ?

Suffering from a series of acute bronchitis attacks, smoking heavily or inhaling contaminated air for prolonged periods may result in chronic bronchitis. Since chronic bronchitis can be serious, it should receive professional medical attention, no matter what its underlying cause.

There is no doubt that cigarette smoking is the chief cause of chronic bronchitis, and recent studies indicate that smoking marijuana causes similar damage. Unless some other factor can be isolated as the irritant that produces the symptoms, the first step in dealing with chronic bronchitis is to stop smoking.

To alleviate any symptoms, your doctor may prescribe a combination of medications that will both open up obstructed bronchial airways and thin obstructive mucus so that it can be coughed up more easily. A steam vaporizer near the bed can also be helpful in easing chest congestion at night.

Meanwhile, the primary cause of bronchitis is bacterial infections, but asthmatic bronchitis is thought to be activated by tiny specks that break through the safety walls made of cilia of the bronchial tubes.

Asthmatic bronchitis also involves congestion of the respiratory tract. Bronchial tubes produce mucus under normal circumstances, this mucus covers the trachea, lungs and other organs in the respiratory system.

Nonetheless, in the existence of irritants, an overproduction of mucus occurs, which consequently obstructs the airways.

Continuous mucoid obstruction of the respiratory tract is fairly widespread among asthmatic bronchitis patients.

General symptoms of asthmatic bronchitis includes dyspnoea or difficulty of breathing and shortness of breath, cough, chest discomforts, wheezing that lasts for several weeks, fatigue or general malaise, pain, weight loss, a general feeling of soreness, and high risk of susceptibility to infections.

Although these are also observed among common asthmatic patients, individuals suffering from asthmatic bronchitis have symptoms that are more profound.

Sufferers are advised to steer clear from irritants like dust, pollen, smoke, chemicals, and alcohol fumes. They are also advised to avoid bacterial infection, thus they should avoid crowds as much as possible. If it is unavoidable, patients are obliged to wear masks to cover their nose and mouth to prevent bacteria from entering the respiratory tract.

Of course, if an infection develops, it is important to seek medical attention and begin a course of treatment with antibiotics, if the infection is bacterial. If it is viral, there is not much that can be done except to make the patient comfortable and allow the infection to run its course. There are no antibiotics which can treat a virus.

By following these techniques, it is possible to make the pain and respiratory difficulties of Asthmatic Bronchitis tolerable. Consulting your physician as soon as a problem develops is wise, and likewise, keeping him/her informed of your progress is important too.

Getting plenty of rest helps the body to expend its energy in fighting off the possible infection, rather than doing other work which might worsen the condition.

    Surviving The Flu

An aggressive flu hit the western United States over the holidays. The California and Utah health departments reported widespread outbreaks in the first part of the year and a rash of cases have cropped up in nearby states.

The most vulnerable are babies, the elderly, and people who have trouble breathing. These people should see a doctor, according to Roger Baxter, the chief of infectious diseases for Kaiser Permanente's Northern California region.

The flu can cause death, especially in the very young and very old. However, the flu strains have become more dangerous, resulting in serious complications for some people.

The bright spot, says Joseph Bresee, an epidemiologist at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, is that the vaccine seems to be working well against the most prevalent strain of flu.

The fist step to preventing a serious bout of the flue is to get a flue shot early in the year. There are many myths associated with the flu shot. The shot is safe and it is effective.
It is important to get the shot early in the season as it typically takes two weeks for the body to build immunity.

Cleanliness is vitally important. There is no solid proof that anti-bacterial hand washes prevent the flu, but they do help. It is a common myth that the flu is air-born. Most flu strains are passed on by touch.

The most important thing is to clean surfaces daily. This includes commonly touched surfaces like the telephone, door handles, the remote control, light switches, faucets, cell phones, car steering wheels, and keyboards.

Viruses are transferred by touch, but they enter the body through the nasal passages, eyes, and mouth. This is why washing should be done several times a day in the flu system. The area around the finger nails, nose, and mouth should be given extra attention.

People need to remember that they will bring most viruses home from work, the market, and friend’s homes. It is important to keep gloves clean, and to leave all outdoor clothing in a closet at the front of the house.

Caution is the key. The old saying, ‘it is better to be safe than sorry,’ applies to protecting a home from viruses.

Avoiding sick people should be a key focus. This can be impossible. The next best thing is to avoid touching common surfaces like copier buttons, doorknobs, and bathroom fixtures. If there is someone at home in a high risk category, then wearing plastic gloves in the bathrooms, is not an excessive caution.

Many people overlook the most common methods of preventing the flu. Reduce stress, sleep eight hours, exercise, eat well, and maintaining a positive mindset will improve your immune system. Changing bedding frequently in the flu season will decrease the amount of bacteria and viruses the body needs to deal with.

Once the body is protected, and the total level of viruses and bacteria it needs to fight are decreased, then supplements can be added. These can range from ginger and peppermint, to herbal remedies, or drugs.

Respiratory Syncytial Virus - Causes , Symptoms Andtreatment

    Definition

Respiratory syncytial virus is the most common cause of serious respiratory infections in infants and young children. It is a virus that causes infections of the lungs and respiratory tract. Many babies and most of the older children get only a slight cold from respiratory syncytial virus. These infections are especially dangerous in babies who were born prematurely, have lung or heart problems or certain other chronic illnesses. This virus occurs during the late winter and early spring in temperate climates, and during the rainy season in the tropics.

    Causes

Respiratory syncytial virus is spread through close contact with an infected person. It has been shown that if a person with respiratory syncytial virus infection sneezes, the virus can be carried to others within a radius of 1.8 m.
Respiratory syncytial virus is most often spread by sharing food or drink with an infected person or by getting droplets containing the virus on your hands and then touching your eyes, nose, or mouth. The infection can spread rapidly through schools and child-care centers. Infants often get it when older kids carry the virus home from school and pass it to them.
Each year up to 125,000 infants are hospitalized due to severe respiratory syncytial virus disease, and about 1 to 2% of these infants die. Infants born prematurely, those with chronic lung disease, those who are immunocompromised, and those with certain forms of heart disease are at increased risk for severe RSV disease.

    Symptoms

Symptoms in young children mostly included lethargy, irritability, and poor feeding. Older children and adults develop upper respiratory tract illness and occasional bronchitis. Common symptoms are :-

    Cough.
    Stuffy or runny nose.
    Mild sore throat.
    Earache.
    Listlessness and sleepiness.
Fretfulness (irritability) and not sleeping well.
    Poor feeding.

    Treatment

If your baby was born prematurely (too early) or has lung or heart disease, talk to your pediatrician about ways to help prevent respiratory syncytial virus. Your baby may benefit from medication that helps prevent RSV infection in high-risk children. This medication is called palivizumab. It is given in monthly injections during the fall and winter months.
Synagis, a monoclonal antibody, is the good treatment indicated for the prevention of serious lower respiratory tract disease caused by respiratory syncytial virus in pediatric patients at high risk of respiratory syncytial virus disease.
In cases of severe infection, hospitalization may be necessary to provide intravenous (IV) fluids and humidified oxygen. Hospitalized infants and children may also be hooked up to mechanical ventilation (a breathing machine) to ease breathing.

    Snuffing Out Secondhand Smoke

In a report last June, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control estimated that while 70 percent of smokers want to quit, only 5 percent are successful each year. That leaves about 45 million people who still light up every day, and lighting up doesn't just put smokers at risk.

U.S. Surgeon General Richard Carmona announced that no level of secondhand smoke is safe, and emphasized the need for continued education about the serious health risks posed by secondhand smoke.

A new public service campaign may help. However, rather than using shocking images and alarming statistics to attract attention to the dangers of secondhand smoke, it uses humor.

"Daddy's gas could kill us all!" exclaims a young girl in one of the public service spots developed for the American Legacy Foundation® and the Ad Council. Entitled Don't Pass Gas, the campaign seeks to capture people's attention about the potentially fatal dangers of secondhand smoke by using an unorthodox approach to inspire viewers to laugh and learn.

The public service announcements (PSAs) include the talents of first-time commercial director and Emmy-nominated actor Jason Alexander. Through TV and radio PSAs as well as Web ads, the campaign will educate Americans-especially parents-about the dangers of secondhand smoke, and encourage them to create smoke-free environments for their families and other loved ones, young and old. Audiences will remember Alexander as the character George Costanza from the popular TV show "Seinfeld."

In the U.S., one out of every five children who has a smoking parent is exposed to secondhand smoke at home. These children are at increased risk of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS), lung infections, ear infections and severe asthma.

"We're confident that our partnership with the Ad Council will attract the public's attention and lead them to make positive decisions for their families," foundation President and CEO Cheryl Healton, Dr.P.H., said. "We recognize how powerfully addictive smoking is and how tough it is to quit. Many smokers lack the tools and resources to do so effectively. We encourage smokers to get the help they need to quit and provide programs to help them do so. This campaign asks smokers that are continuing to struggle with their addiction to please be mindful of protecting their families and other loved ones from the devastating effects of secondhand smoke and not smoke around other people-especially their children."

The two spots, "Dinner" and "Movie," focus on family members or friends wanting to step away to "pass gas." The audience learns that the "gas" being referenced is actually secondhand smoke. Secondhand smoke is a mixture of gases and extremely small solid materials; thus the irreverent play on words. Don't Pass Gas is the first national, multimedia campaign to address the issue of secondhand smoke.

Cigarette smoke contains more than 4,000 chemical substances, including several known human carcinogens. In 2004, Legacy released data showing that a small reduction in tobacco smoke exposure would spare thousands of children from serious health problems, including fewer low-birth-weight babies, fewer cases of asthma and fewer ear infections.

The best action parents can take to protect their families from secondhand smoke is to make their homes and cars smoke-free and to stop smoking around children.

"overcoming Bronchitis And Its Health Effects"

    What is Bronchitis anyway?

Bronchitis is something you are likely to have in your lifetime at least once. Since it usually follows a cold or other respiratory condition, most people will develop it in the course of their lifetime.

Your chest is throbbing in pain. You are coughing and it hurts to do so. These are the first symptoms of bronchitis. Although it is a common condition that many face, for some it is even worse. That’s because for some people bronchitis is disabling and more frequent.

The good news is that you can do just that. Bronchitis doesn’t have to be a condition that you can’t shake.

Before you can actually deal with bronchitis, you need to know what it is and how it affects your body. Having an education in this information puts you at the forefront of spotting symptoms and taking action before you become ill further or even lessening the effect that bronchitis can have on your daily life.

Bronchitis happens in your lungs. In fact, it is a condition that affects the inner walls in your air passage ways of your lungs. There, bronchitis causes the lining to become infected and inflamed, causing you the symptoms of fevers, chills, coughing and a pain in your chest.

These are the symptoms of acute bronchitis, something that many people will get after they have had a respiratory infection.

On the other hand, bronchitis that comes back time and time again is something to be concerned about. Bronchitis can lead to more serious conditions such as emphysema, asthma or even chronic bronchitis. These need medical attention as soon as possible.

If you are someone that smokes, your chances of getting chronic bronchitis are often much more severe than those that are likely to get acute bronchitis.

    Symptoms To Look For:

The main sign of this condition is that of a yellow/gray or even green colored mucus that comes up when you are coughing. This mucus is called sputum. The mucus should be a sign to you that something is wrong, especially with this type of coloring.

Some people don’t have a large accumulation of the product in their throats and therefore do not cough it up. For this reason, you should realize that you can have bronchitis without having any mucus.
There are additional signs that you should pay attention to in order to tell if you have bronchitis.
    • A pain in your chest that makes you feel constricted
    • A burning sensation in your chest, soreness there
    • Congestion
    • A sore throat
    • The feeling of not being able to catch your breath
    • Wheezing, coughing
    • Fever, which should not be too elevated. If so, contact your doctor as soon as possible.
    • Chills
When you experience any of these, especially a combination of them with mucus, you could be suffering from a bronchitis infection.
    Causes Of Chronic Bronchitis
The causes of chronic bronchitis are often a bit more drastic. If you have this condition, the walls of your bronchial tubes have become thickened and they are inflamed to such a degree that it is considered nearly permanent. When this happens, chronic bronchitis is evident.

Most with this condition must cough at least some time during each day to clear their throat. This is especially true of those that have chronic bronchitis due to their smoking habits.

Those that suffer from chronic symptoms of bronchitis often develop asthma because of it. This is caused by the long term inflammation of your air passageways, it is essential that you get help from your doctor in dealing with your condition.

    Are You At Risk, Then?

Since anyone can get acute bronchitis from a cold that they have, it is not difficult to imagine that virtually everyone is at risk for developing this condition. Yet, there are some additional reasons why this condition can effect you more often or even just more severely than it will effect other people.

Those that are living in conditions where bronchitis is likely, such as a smoking home, will also have increased risks of developing pneumonia, colds, respiratory infections, asthma and ear infections.
In some cases, such as those that revolve around occupational bronchitis, just removing the irritants from your lifestyle will ultimately improve your quality of life and reduce the occurrences and health risks associated with bronchitis.

    Do You Need A Doctor?

This question is one that you’ll have to answer yourself, depending on the type and severity of the condition you are in. For most people, the need for a doctor is not there, because they are suffering from acute bronchitis, which will likely go away on its own within just a few days to a week.

In order to help this to happen, get as much rest as you can and get lots of fluids. Keep your home’s air moist as well. Treat bronchitis in the same basic way you would treat a cold to see improvement.

Those that have a fever, which is to be expected in most cases, should contact their doctor if there temperature reaches higher than 101 degrees F. If you are coughing up blood, yellow mucus, green mucus or you can’t catch your breath, call on a doctor as soon as possible because your condition may have progressed.

When bronchitis progresses, it ends up being that of pneumonia, a very serious condition that can be fatal if not treated properly. In addition to this, you should seek the help of your doctor if you find that your bronchitis has not gone away within six weeks. Those that face chronic bronchitis can develop additional conditions like asthma when their air passageways remain inflamed.

Certain people should seek the help of their doctor sooner. If you have chronic health problems such as chronic lung problems, congestive heart failure, emphysema, or asthma, then you need to see your doctor as soon as you feel an episode of bronchitis coming on.

To find out more detail about the condition you must read this grate eBook that you can download in the next 10 minutes. It has all there is to know. There are lots of interesting facts and cures, the author has spent weeks researching the subject and compiled an ease to understand eBook in plain English.

    Childhood Asthma Is Preventable

Childhood Asthma is a chronic lung disease characterized by tight airways -- a result of airways being too responsive. Our airways are meant to respond to harmful substances in the air. Our airways shrink when we're in a smoky atmosphere, protecting our delicate lung tissues from the noxious ingredients in the smoke. They should go back to normal in fresh air but it doesn't always work that way with asthmatics.

That's the official point of view, from a medical industry that claims not to know how to cure asthma. The people who do cure the problem say that asthma is your body's attempt to compensate for bad breathing methods. So you should learn to breathe properly.

    Here are some warning signs
Baby pants more than 40 breaths per minute while asleep.
    Child refuses suckling.
Skin between ribs is pulled tight while breathing.
Rest of body seems small compared to chest.
    Your baby's fingernails become blue
Your infant doesn't cry much because of shortness of breath.
Struggles to breath through mouth and flared nostrils.
Grunts like a pig during breast feeding.

    Asthma and pregnancy

So much for asthma in kids. Now how could mothers give rise to asthma? (I'm not letting fathers off the hook either.) If you breathe badly you can't give your baby enough Oxygen.. Your baby gets all its Oxygen from your bloodstream so if you don't breathe properly your baby will be deficient. Yes, you really can learn to breathe properly.
Doctors like to charge you as much as possible, like any other business people. They offer us quack medicine to make us feel better, while making asthma worse, while telling us there is no cure. CORRECTION: I've just discovered it's not all the doctors' fault. They have been told by the medical industry that they will lose their licence to practice medicine if they tell you about the free cure for asthma.

The medical industry offers this official point of view (note the drug adverts included): "Remember: Using asthma medicine during pregnancy is much safer than letting your asthma get out of control. Such asthma medicines as inhaled beta-agonists (quick relief medicines like Maxair or Proventil), cromolyn (medicines that prevent triggers from causing reactions in your lungs, like Intal), and inhaled steroids (long-term controller medicines like Flovent) are safe for pregnant women when you take them as directed by your doctor. Please don't read the instructions as it might decrease our income." Some of that is untrue.

Experts tell you that exercise can trigger an asthma attack. I've noticed that digging the garden a couple of times a year triggers sore muscles. But if I was doing it every day there would be no sore muscles. Take a gentle stroll every day while you are pregnant for half an hour. Exercise is important and you should be able to be physically active without having asthma symptoms after the first few days of exercise.

    Prevention of asthma in toddlers

Get ready for a shock! Having at least two pets in the house drastically reduces asthma later on. Fair enough if you don't give your toddlers a chance to learn to fight asthma in childhood by having pets they are likely to suffer every time a cat or dog comes near them. But it's natural for children to be among pets and perhaps eat a cockroach or two. Don't protect them too much or you may give them asthma.

    Of course

doctors responsible for asthma in kids

I think that the doctors are more to blame than you, because they should know better. doctors cause a lot of the trouble in their endless attempts to sell you more drugs. Tests show that antibiotics destroy the correct activity in a child's intestine. This leads to impaired immune systems and asthma.

Abusing prescription drugs is as common as, or maybe even more common than, street drug use - and doctors are often to blame. your child could die from a prescription drug that has helped make your doctors wealthy.

Some children are constantly ill, because steroids prescribed by doctors have affected their immune system.

Danger in the showers. When chlorine vaporizes it combines with other airborne particles and forms dangerous chloroform gas. Tests show that asthma and other breathing problems are created. The U.S. EPA states that "Due to chlorine and showering, there is an elevated level of chloroform gas in virtually every home in America...". Many studies have linked chlorine to childhood asthma and reported that most of the risks are associated with showering in chlorinated water.

    Sing Your Cares Away

Maldon & South Chelmsford Primary Care Trust has started a project to improve the quality of life of local children with asthma.

"Asthma is a serious condition for many youngsters," says Sarah Southerby, the PCT's healthy living co-ordinator. "The 'Huff and Puff' project holds innovative classes using song and art as mediums for helping children to control their breathing."

The workshops include simple songs, rhythms and breathing techniques, to teach the children not to panic when they suffer shortness of breath.

Ian doesn't have asthma, but there is a cure for asthma that cures all sorts of respiratory problems, so he is very interested. You can read more about asthma at healthforu.info/in/asthma.php and discover why doctors don't want you to know the cure. healthforu.info/in/asthmaquacks.php
