Dry Skin May actually Cause More Acne
Related experts have suggested that one of the major surface causes of acne may be oil secretion.
It is widely believed that if your body is secreting oil, it may clog your pores, which in turn, creates acne outbreaks.
Thus, it is a commonly accepted myth that some well-meaning advice that follows this, is to apply products to your skin, in an effort to dry it out.
Nonetheless, however, doing that can make the problem worse.
For example, if you use a harsh, drying product on your skin, you run the risk of drying out your skin too much.
What happens as a consequence, your sebaceous glands excrete more oil, in an attempt to compensate.
Yes, your skin knows when it is too dry, and does what it can to rectify the problem.
Furthermore, experts state that in addition, dry skin dies faster than healthy skin, causing you to have an abundance of dead skin cells. Dry skin can be just as harmful as skin that's too oily.
Consequently, when looking for a cleansing agent, and there are many good on the market, there are some ingredients you want to stay away from. They include Alcohol, lanolin, isopropyl myristate, sodium lauryl sulphate, sodium laureth sulphate, propylene glycol, mineral oil and parabens, as well as Benzoyl peroxide. Many of these ingredients are good for treating current acne, or in taking care of an outbreak you are currently suffering from, but should not be used as a cleansing agent on areas that aren't broken out (unless you want them to break out, of course!)
I personally use witch Hazel for this purpose or at times just diluted lemon juice.
Just my 2-cents on it.
To health and smoother skin.
