How to Focus on the Right Abdominal Exercises

When you are trying to choose the abdominal exercises that you should focus on you need to take into consideration what you are doing the abdominal exercises for.

If you are doing these abdominal exercises in order to get rid of some of the extra weight you have put on, then you will want to focus on abdominal exercises that will focus in on certain spots on the tummy.

If you are doing the abdominal exercises for strengthening the core muscles,then a more diverse routine will be needed when it comes to your session of exercise.

For example you will want to do both upper and lower tummy crunches.When it is the upper than you are focusing on you need to lie on your back and raise your upper body towards your lower body.

To do lower body crunches then you will lie on your back and lift your legs to your upper body. These are sometimes called reverse crunches.

Also keep in mind, if you have a history of back problems, you'd have to exercise caution and a "slow-and-steady-wins-the-race-attitude" in executing your routine.

Perhaps, this is why I tend to advocate the mild, yet very effective use of Yoga. However, your basic calisthenics could work.

At this point, I must also remind you of the necessity of a proper diet in regards to seeing the results of your exercising the abs. None else can match the use of the mucus-less (or as the case may be, mucus-lean) diet of fruits and vegetables, so keep that in mind my friends.

    Abdominal Muscles and the Flat Stomach Myth

    Friends,

    In spite of what we see on TV or read in magazines, our abdomens are not meant to be ‘flat’ per-se. Perhaps depending mostly on one’s eating habits, amount of exercise, gender, age, and individual body types can affect the size and shape of your abdomen.

    In truth, many people are on a quest to achieve a "flat stomach" and will religiously engage in vigorous and oft-times unsafe abdominal exercises to this effect. When exercises seem useless for the abdominal muscles, the ensuing obsession with the abdominal area can cause frustration, anxiety, and can even lead to eating disorders.

    So instead of worrying about how effective or otherwise ineffective the commonly prescribed abdominal exercises might be for you, focus more on a healthy diet FIRST and the right kinds of exercises to tone the overall body which as a result will lead to a trimmer and slimmer physique for the totality of the body.

    I promise to enumerate the best exercises for these, (if I already haven't in this blog)...but I felt my readers should break out of the flat stomach myth first!

    Target Abdominal Weight Loss, Wisely

    Friends, In a present world no one can advice you best way to lose weight. But it's important to do it in a healthy and realistic way. This allows you to get the nutrients you need, feel positive about helping your health and well being, and get on with living your life. Adopting a healthy and long lasting way to weight loss ensures healthy mind, body, and soul for you.

    At this point readers, perhaps the most important criteria for losing a gut will be
    (you guessed right...) a dietetic change.

    The energy content of 1lb (0.5kg) of body fat is 3,500 calories. So to lose 1lb a week, a 500 calorie 'deficit' is needed each day (7 x 500 = 3,500). This is best achieved by making small changes in existing diet and by increasing the component of exercise in daily schedule.

    For example, swap a chocolate bar for a banana (save 150 calories) and a small pot of reduced-calorie for standard coleslaw (save 240 calories) and add two 15-minute brisk walks (burn 150 calories) for a 540 calorie deficit.

    Of course some other do's and don'ts apply to a healthy weight loss (which not surprisingly is noticed first in the abdominal region eh?) but for now, imbibe this posting and I promise to keep bringing you more information to help out.

    Do You Exercise Everyday?

    If you want to live a long, healthy life, maybe you should.


    The Basics -- Make Exercise a Life Priority:



    - If you’re not use to exercising, check with your doctor before beginning any strenuous fitness routine.



    - Start slow. If 30 minutes of exercise is too much, start with 15 minutes and add a few minutes each day.



    - If you don’t have time for 60 minutes of exercise, break it up into two 30-minute sessions throughout the day.



    - Schedule a specific time to exercise everyday – then keep to your schedule!



    - Take part in more intense activities that can improve your

    heart health, such as: running, dancing, swimming, cycling, and climbing stairs.



    - Find exercise that you enjoy. You will be more likely to

    continue and improve your daily performance if you look forward to a favorite activity.



    - Wear proper clothing and footwear. This has two functions. Clothing and shoes that are suited to your activity will enhance performance and offer the right kind of support for your body and feet. They will also place you in a better frame of mind for exercise. When you wear your favorite running outfit and slide into your special running shoes, your mind says “it’s time to get out the door and put my feet in motion!”



    - Add everyday activities to increase your overall fitness

    level, such as gardening, housework, walking to the store, take the stairs instead of the elevator, and raking leaves.



    - Always drink lots of water.



    - If you feel discomfort or pain after an activity, use ice

    therapy immediately to reduce swelling and numb pain. Always have a cold pack in your freezer, ready and waiting. Most aches and pains attributed to exercise respond well to icing and will melt away within 24 hours after applying ice for several 20-minute sessions. Using cold therapy reduces down time, getting you back on schedule fast. (If the pain does not lessen within 48 hours after using ice therapy, is intense or becomes worse, see your doctor.)

    The Benefits Of Treadmill Exercises

    When we think of exercise we often think of an expensive gym filled with others. For some people they aren’t comfortable venturing to a gym and working out in front of other people. For them purchasing a piece of exercise equipment for their home is a better choice.



    Although there are numerous different choices in home exercise equipment, one particular piece of equipment stands out. The treadmill is an affordable choice and with its ease of use it’s perfect for almost every member of the family.



    The benefits of treadmill exercise are far reaching. Not only does it afford you the same benefits of a brisk walk but there are other elements in play as well.



    One of the benefits of treadmill exercise is that engaging in exercise each day helps with sleep. If you take a few moments of your time each day to use the treadmill you’ll find that you are more tired around bedtime and you’ll sleep more soundly. The body needs to nourish itself with sleep after it’s gone through a period of exertion.



    When considering the benefits of treadmill exercise people don’t often consider how the mood can be affected. Regular, daily exercise can help with feelings of depression or sadness. The time involved on the treadmill doesn’t have to be long. Even a short ten or twenty minute period each day can be very beneficial.



    Some of the greatest benefits of treadmill exercise can be felt when you adjust the machine. Treadmills that are run on electricity have different speed settings. If you are just beginning an exercise regime than using the lowest speed is advisable.



    Even at a low setting your body will enjoy the benefits of treadmill exercise including an increased heart rate and fat burning. As you grow more accustomed to the speed you can increase it slowly.



    Changing the incline of the track can also result in increased benefits of treadmill exercise. When you feel as though you are walking uphill you are focusing on the muscles contained in your legs and buttocks. For a man or woman wanting to tone up these areas this can give great results.



    Treadmills are one of the easiest pieces of exercise equipment to use. Once the machine is assembled it is as simple as getting on and walking or running. The benefits of treadmill exercise can be felt by anyone including more mature people who are looking for a safe and easy way to exercise.



    Not all treadmills are electric. There are manual versions of treadmills available. The benefits of treadmill exercise on a manual treadmill as opposed to an electric version are much the same. The only difference is that with the manual treadmill you will find yourself working a bit harder to get the belt to move. This in itself is a benefit because it requires a bit more exertion on the part of the person exercising.

    How to Use the Ab-Roller

    Ab Roll Outs:

    Using the traditional ab-wheel (best purchased from an Asian market or sports store) start off in a kneeling position and roll out as far as you can feeling a deep stretch in your abs, triceps and chest, hold for a split second or two, then slowly draw the roller back to the starting position.

    This is great for the arms, chest, lats, abdominal and back muscles.
